Optic Fiber Network

You may have heard about how fast and effective fiber optics internet is, but do you know what that really means? In this blog, you will see some of the top advantages of fiber over another type of internet connection.

But first, let’s understand what fiber optics internet is all about.

All About Fiber Optics Internet

Fiber optics internet is commonly known as fiber. It is a broadband connection that can diffuse internet data of more than 500 megabits per second (Mbps). This internet technology uses a fiber optics cable, believed to transfer information with a speed of almost 70% that of light speed.

Fiber optics internet-primarily works by piercing files into segments of zeroes and ones and spreading them into a light signal. The fiber optics are designed to keep the tube’s light signal for up to 60 miles. An internet modem decodes the light into a readable form when it reaches the other end.

There are three main types of fiber optics internet:

Fiber to the premises

Fiber to the curb

Fiber to the node

Now that you know a little about fiber optics internet, it’s time for you to understand why it is so much better than copper cable.

Benefits of Fiber Optics Internet

The benefits of fiber opticss are enormous:

Considerably Fast

Fiber optics internet is believed to have a speed of up to 1 gigabit per second (Gbps). This can be a hundred times faster than the typical speed offered by copper cable. For comparison, you could use these examples:

Fiber optics internet speed is 1Gbps, and downloading speed is 40 seconds, whereas the cable internet speed is 100 Mbps, taking approximately 10 mins to download a movie.

Reliability

Ever experienced a video freeze? This is generally caused by slow internet speed overloaded over peak hours. You would have no such interruption if you were using fiber internet cable.

Fiber optics internet is capable of uninterrupted streaming. It can manage loads of data at high speeds. It doesn’t rely on electric power. It can send a signal even if there is a power outage.

It Doesn’t Throttle

Have you ever noticed how things slow down at peak hours? This is usually because of the increased number of users. To deal with the overload problem, use fiber optics internet that rarely experiences overloads. Regardless of users, its speeds are consistent and never slow down.

Safe

If you are one of those people who are afraid of health risks related to technologies, then you will appreciate fiber optics internet. Fibers are carefully confined in their cables, so you don’t have to fear the prospect that it will affect your health.

In short, fiber optics internet can bring the world to your fingertips. With the numerous benefits, there is no reason not to use them. Use it and enjoy all the benefits from fast internet speed to better coverage.

It’s nice that you pointed out how fiber optics internet is capable of uninterrupted streaming. We are planning to replace our current internet connection and we want something that is always stable. So, we should probably try to contact a home fiber internet provider.
